YOUR WORK, YOUR COMPUTER

Local where it matters. Clear when it connects.

A plain-language map of how QuillTide Desktop treats creative work, optional online actions, updates, and licensing.

LOCAL

Core creative work

  • manuscripts and project organisation
  • characters, locations, notes, and planning
  • local reading records and supported files
  • graphics made from local assets
  • offline exports and protected .qtbeta handoffs

These workflows are designed around files and information on your computer.

ONLINE — WHEN CHOSEN

Connected actions

  • update checks and downloads
  • licence activity where required
  • explicit metadata or dictionary lookups
  • optional private beta-reading links
  • external community or purchase links

Only the information required by the action should be sent, and manuscript text should not be silently transmitted.

The important distinction

“Local-first” does not mean pretending the internet never exists. It means the core creative project is not designed around compulsory cloud storage, while connected features are treated as separate, visible choices.
